The Research into Tertiary Education (RiTE) group
The RiTE group is a network of members of the Victoria University community who have a strong interest in research into tertiary education. RiTE currently operates through an e-mail list and a series of face-to-face meetings. The current membership of RiTE includes staff from all higher education faculties (including staff of the School of Education), from TAFE schools, from Teaching and Learning Services (TLS), from the Postgraduate Research Unit and from other support areas. It came into being as a result of a joint initiative by Elaine Martin (Director, Graduate Studies), Brenda Cherednichenko (former Head, School of Education) and Roger Gabb (Professorial Fellow, Health Engineering and Science).
The range of research interests in RiTE is broad. It ranges from research into their own practice by tertiary teachers in a variety of fields, through research into the educational policies and practices of this institution, to research into state, national and international educational policies and practices. The range of experience in research into tertiary education is also broad - ranging from those just beginning to those with national and international reputations in research into tertiary education. Despite this diversity, what characterises this group is its commitment to research into tertiary education as a means of informing and improving practice, especially in the setting of this cross-sectoral university.
