More Information?

Do you want to develop knowledge and work-ready skills to help you find employment?

Through Vocational Education and Training (VET) you can combine your regular studies with hands-on practical experience in industry. VET in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE VET) lets you blend your general studies with vocational education and training.

WHO CAN DO IT?

Year 10, 11 and 12 students can undertake VET programs while completing their VCE or VCAL. Programs provide a qualification or partial completion of a Certificate I, II or III and are designed to give you an overview of the industry. The units you complete during a VET program will count toward continued study at TAFE, giving you a head start on your further education.

Almost all VCE VET programs contribute to study scores - some have scored assessment - and all contribute to the VCAL. The VCE VET or VCAL can be undertaken at your local secondary college or at Victoria University.

AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS BASED APPRENTICESHIP

Most industries also offer an Apprenticeship or Traineeship that can be undertaken while at school. When a secondary college student has a job with an employer, they can do an Australian School-Based Apprenticeship (ASBA) part-time while at school doing VCE or VCAL.

SHORT COURSES & TASTERS - TRY IT OUT

VET in Schools at Victoria University also offer Short Courses and Tasters, allowing students the opportunity to try different courses for one or two terms. Find out more by taking a look at our Short Course Summary Brochure.
