This section provides some basic tools, utilities and resources for staff using WebCT/Blackboard.

Open the unit request form log on and fill out the required details. Have the unit code and correct unit name handy before you start. If this is the first time you are using the request form, you may want to read the help guide on the opening page first. |
WHAT IF MY STUDENTS HAVE PROBLEMS, OR CAN'T EVEN ACCESS MY WEBCT UNIT?

After students enrol, they are placed on the VU Database. However, some time may elapse before the system copies them to the separate WebCT database, so they may be enrolled but still not have WebCT access. You can accelerate the process by using the check users utility to ascertain student status. Enter the student ID number(s) and the utility will check a) whether they are in the VU database, b) whether they have been copied to the WebCT database. Best of all, the very act of checking the students' status will add them to the WebCT database. Also useful for students might be this printable 'Getting Started with WebCT' guide. In addition, if you use PowerPoint slides in WebCT, students will find the 'How to Print PowerPoints' document helpful. |

For copyright reasons, these materials must reside on a password-protected area. A WebCT unit for staff has therefore been set up for this purpose. To access the CE6 Designer/Instructor Reference Materials, please email Vyt who will add you to the users list (VU staff only).There is no need to write anything - the automatically generated email subject will tell me all I need to know. |

The duties and functions of the Online Learning Systems Trainer are now handled on a rotating basis by Flexible Learning Unit staff. Contact FLU for details of forthcoming workshops or to discuss the possibility of customised training in specific aspects of WebCT/Blackboard. You might also login to the Staff College PD Booking System to check for any forthcoming workshops such as eLearning Passport programs. |
