Learning Matters Symposium
Thursday 24th November 2005
Footscray Park G-370

Each year, all staff are invited to attend Victoria University's annual Learning Matters Symposium. Learning Matters is a key event in the University's teaching and learning calendar. It provides the opportunity for teaching staff and staff in teaching support roles from Victoria University to come together to share their experiences and effective teaching practices.

The overall theme this year is 'Engaging Students in Learning' which will be discussed by Dr Kerri-Lee Krause. The keynote speech is followed by parallel sessions which will involve staff presenting their responses to the challenges in their teaching and learning areas in terms of curriculum revision and pedagogical developments. Teaching Practitioners are asked to introduce issues and problems they confront in their teaching practice, describe what they have done in response, what they have learnt and what they would do next time in similar circumstances.

Two streams have been identified to focus the presentations:

Each Stream concludes with a panel drawn from within the University of staff who discuss what they have learnt from the presentations, and what needs to happen at a University-wide level to support teaching and learning.

This year the RITE Group will be conducting its inaugural conference on the following day 25th November, 2005 in the same venue.

To register go to the Staff College booking system.
