Each year, all staff are invited to attend Victoria University's annual Learning Matters Symposium. Learning Matters is a key event in the University's teaching and learning calendar. It provides the opportunity for teaching staff and staff in teaching support roles from Victoria University to come together to share their experiences and effective teaching practices.

Beyond Boundaries: Towards Cultural Competence

The cultural and linguistic diversity of the Victoria University staff and student community is among the highest in the nation. In this respect, staff at VU are responding to the challenge of providing a more relevant educational experience for students from different socio-economic, educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Consistent with this, the 2006 Learning Matters Symposium is entitled Beyond Boundaries: Towards Cultural Competence. It will explore the ways this challenge is being addressed.

Learning Matters Symposium 2006 will showcase practical examples of innovative, culturally competent programs that strengthen the ‘diversity dividend’ and support our students to become culturally competent professionals and lifelong learners in the global environment.

Participants and presenters are required to register via the Staff College booking system.
