Policy Review
University staff will be aware that the Student Assessment and
Student Progress policies were recently reviewed by Emeritus
Professor David Booth with a view to removing key ‘irritants’ to the
policies in advance of a major policy review later in 2008.
The purpose of this website is to advise teaching and teaching
related staff of the key changes to each of these policies. You will
find on this site:
- A PowerPoint presentation prepared by Professor Booth. The
presentation offers detailed information about the rationale for the
review of both policies and the changes that resulted. This could be
used by Heads of Schools or others who wish to disseminate
information about the policy review and stimulate discussion.
- A fact sheet outlining key changes to the Student Assessment
policy. This is designed as a handy reference for teachers who may
need to check which clauses of the policy and its procedures have
changed. (Note: only the procedures have changed)
- A fact sheet outlining key changes to the Student Progress
policy. This is designed as a handy reference for teachers who may
need to check which clauses of the policy and its procedures have
changed. (Note: only the procedures have changed).
- A 2008 Timeline for the Student Progress process.
[pdf file] This is
designed as a ready reference for teachers and administrators who
need to know when Supplementary exams have been timetabled in 2008.
The Student Assessment Policy is currently undergoing review. Two Reference Groups are established:
- A VE/FE Reference Group comprising the Senior Educators Teaching Learning, and
- A HE Reference Group comprising the Associate Deans Teaching Learning.
