Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education 2008

A flexible approach to a postgraduate qualification in tertiary teaching

Teaching staff at VU from TAFE and higher education are invited to participate in the Master of Education program offered by the School of Education and Staff College . The program caters for teaching staff members who want to develop their expertise as tertiary teachers and gain a professional qualification at the same time. The course aims to use the current and prior experience of participants to extend their knowledge of educational practice and enhance their ability to impact on learning processes.

The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education is a specialisation in the Master of Education program. The Master of Education program enables students to engage in professional learning through practitioner research informed by contemporary theories of learning, leadership and personal, workplace and social change. Students may exit upon completion of requirements for Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas in their area of specialisation.

Induction for Teaching

All newly appointed teaching staff with ongoing, tenurable or contract appointments are required to either satisfactorily complete the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education or gain exemption from the program normally within 3 years. For more information see VU's Induction for Teaching Policy.

The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education is provided on a waived fee basis for VU teaching staff with ongoing, tenurable or contact appointments. However, should teachers need to re-enrol in any subject for any reason, they will bear the cost.
