Women in Leadership Program

Background

The staffing profile of VU, as monitored over the past decade, suggests that women remain under-represented in most senior and leadership positions and disproportionately clustered at the lower end of the occupational hierarchy.  The bulk of female staff is concentrated in positions at HEW levels 1-6, Academic levels A and B and TAFE Teaching Staff (approximately 1500 women).  Analysis indicates that the representation of women staff at the more senior levels remains a significant equal opportunity issue and as a consequence, developing and nurturing our own female staff to advance in the organisation has been identified as a strategic objective.

The WiL program is built around a series of workshops, which target this cohort of women and provide strategic career development and planning advice.  Each participant is matched with a mentor for the program duration

Eligibility
The program is open to all female staff that are:
- General Staff HEW Level 7 and above

-  Academic Level C and above
- TAFE Senior Educator 2 and above

Career Development for Women Program

Background
The staff profile of VU over the past decade suggests that women remain under-represented in most senior and leadership positions and disproportionately clustered at the lower end of the occupational hierarchy.  The bulk of female staff is concentrated in positions at HEW levels 1-6, Academic levels A and B and TAFE Teaching Staff (approximately 1500 women).  While analysis indicates that the representation of women staff at senior levels remains a significant equal opportunity issue, developing and nurturing our own more numerous middle level staff to advance in the organisation has been identified as a strategic objective.

The CDW program is built around a series of career development workshops, which target this cohort of middle level women and provide strategic career development and planning guidance. Each participant works through a customised career enrichment toolkit supplemented by resources based on existing university professional development workshops.

Eligibility
The CDW program is open to all female staff that are:
- General staff at levels up to and including HEW 6

- Academics at Levels A & B

- Senior Educators level 1

- Advanced skills teachers and teachers
