The Vice Chanellor's Awards for Programmes that Enhance the Student Experience 2006

Students 'At Risk' Program

Students ‘At Risk’ Program. Wayne, Florian and Fiona have made a notable contribution to the identification of students at risk of poor performance in the early stages of a Marketing subject and then responded with specific skill development assistance. Through the development of a ‘management model’ this project is an integral part of an on-going improvement in teaching methods and student-centred learning strategies utilised within the School.

 

Peer Mentoring at VU

Peer Mentoring at VU: Enhancing the Academic and Social Experiences of Students 2002-2006. Darko and Gill have made a notable contribution to student transition at VU through the development of three distinct peer mentoring models. These developments mean that VU currently has onshore, offshore and cross-sectoral peer mentoring programs to support students in their academic and social transition to University.

The Ties That Bind: Academic, Language and Discipline Skills Unite

  • Mr Alan McWilliams (Faculty of Business and Law)

The Ties That Bind: Academic, Language and Discipline Skills Unite. Through a range of collaborative approaches, Fiona and Alan have made a notable contribution to enriching the student’s experience. Their program brings together discipline, technical, offshore and academic language and learning support staff to continuously develop and refine the compulsory first-year undergraduate subject ‘Management and Organisation Behaviour’.


This model demonstrates the way in which academic skills and content can be developed together within curriculum to enhance student learning.
