VU LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT CAPABILITY FRAMEWORK

The LMCF Project aims to develop a model for high performance leadership and management practice at Victoria University. It will be used to support the VU Leadership and Management Development Strategy 2008 - 2010, articulating standards for workplace practice, recruitment, selection and probation, promotion and performance assessment, and to aid in career and professional development.

A draft model has been developed and is available for consultation until November 19, 2008.

Once developed the LMCF can be used:

  • to provide guidance to leaders on how to achieve excellence as a leader at VU
  • to assess the leadership and management capabilities of individual leaders, groups or units to meet the challenges of the future
  • to identify appropriate development strategies at the individual, group, unit and institutional levels
  • to develop an objective and effective assessment and selection model for recruitment, transfer and promotion
  • as a reference for the development of selection criteria, probation criteria, performance plans, workforce plans etc.
  • to evaluate the readiness of staff for potential leadership and management roles
  • to develop workplace-based learning activities, assignments, initiatives and programs.

The Staffing and Workforce Planning Management Advisory Committee (SWPMAC) will act as the overall project steering committee to provide governance and guidance to the project.  Two Advisory Groups will also provide feedback at critical points in the LMCF development process.

This project is supported by a federal government (DEEWR) grant – Workplace Productivity Program (Round 2).
