Curriculum maintenance manager service

Victoria University is contracted by Skills Victoria and Adult Community and Further Education Board (ACFE) to provide the Service Industries Curriculum Maintenance Manager (CMM) Service. The CMMs are strategically positioned to provide quality information and support on training product development and implementation.

The purpose of the CMM function is to:

  • provide authoritative advice and intelligence to Skills Victoria, ACFE and key stakeholders on vocational education and training matters;
  • provide strategic and innovative advice on training product implementation and curriculum related professional development to enhance the teaching and learning process in VET;
  • support Skills Victoria and ACFE in the review, development and endorsement process of Training Packages and Curricula to ensure its relevance and effective implementation;
  • provide an advisory function for RTOs in achieving education and training solutions to effectively implement training products;
  • develop and provide authoritative advice on Training Package Purchasing Guides for the VET system;
  • support and maintain currency of relevant information and products on the Training Support Network (TSN) website;
  • support Skills Victoria and ACFE in the implementation of their respective Strategic Plans.

CMM industry sectors

The CMM function is carried out by Executive Officers located within Victorian TAFE Institutes and provides an outsourced service for Skills Victoria and ACFE, covering the following areas:

  • Business Industries - Chisholm Institute;
  • Building and Construction - Holmesglen Institute of TAFE;
  • General Manufacturing - Chisholm Institute;
  • Engineering Industries - Box Hill Institute and Kangan Institute;
  • Human Services - Swinburne University of Technology;
  • Service Industries - Victoria University;
  • Primary Industries - Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE.

CMM services and assistance at VU

Victoria University is responsible for the Service Industries, comprising General Studies and Further Education; Tourism and Hospitality; Transport and Distribution; Wholesale Retail and Personal Services (WRAPS). The Service Industries CMM Executive Officers are based in the Vocational Education Curriculum Maintenance Unit (VECMU).

They can provide advice to VU staff on:

  • interpreting and unpacking training packages and curriculum;
  • designing learning strategies;
  • designing assessment strategies.
