Office for learning and teaching (OLT) Awards

Our higher education staff are encouraged and offered support to apply for the annual grants, fellowships, awards and citations offered by the Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT).

The OLT aims to enhance learning and teaching in higher education providers through the recognition of outstanding practice and through the contributing to professional and educational resource development.

 

Award and Citation Categories

In recognition of teaching excellence and outstanding contributions to student learning the OLT confers the following awards:

 

Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning

Awarded to those who have made a significant and sustained contribution to the quality of student learning in either a general or specific area. Applicants can be a member, or members of, the academic staff, general staff, sessional staff or an institutional associate of VU.

Programs that Enhance Learning

Recognises exceptional learning and teaching support programs and services that make a significant difference to the quality of student learning and experience. The programs and services are expected to set an institution standard for similar activities.

Awards for Teaching Excellence

Honours individual teachers and teams who have significantly enhanced the quality of learning and teaching through excellent teaching.

Prime Minister's Award for University Teacher of the Year

Awards an academic who has contributed exceptionally to the scholarship of learning and teaching. This most prestigious teaching award is presented to one of the recipients of the Awards for Teaching Excellence.

Career Achievement Award

Presented to an individual whose career achievements in learning and teaching are recognised across the higher education sector as having had a major influence and left an enduring legacy. The individual is nominated by members of the OLT Board.
