Enhancing Teaching Practice

Collaborative Reflection on Teaching

Collaborative Reflection on Teaching is Victoria University's formative approach to the peer review of teaching. Our peer review approach:

  • is collaborative
  • is reflective
  • encourages colleagues to talk about their work

Collaborative Reflection on Teaching Protocol

To support Victoria University (VU) staff through the collaborative reflection on teaching process a protocol has been developed. The protocol assists teachers to reflect on their practice in alignment with the VU Teacher Capabilities. It includes the following sections:

  • self reflection
  • pre-teaching observation and discussion
  • reciprocal observation and review of teaching
  • feedback discussion

The protocol also uses the VU Guidelines on Learning that Inform Teaching to focus on how we can improve teaching through a greater understanding of what makes learning effective.

The Collaborative Reflection on Teaching Protocol
The sections of the protocol will assist you to document important features of your discussion and self-review. You can keep this as a permanent record for use in planning your teaching in the future.

Confidentiality

All documents completed as part of the Collaborative reflection on teaching process are confidential to you and the colleague(s) who reviewed your teaching and whose teaching you reviewed.
