Victoria University (VU) supports the engagement of teaching staff in continuous professional development for their teaching. Formal programs are available as well as processes such as peer review, mentoring, communities of practice and projects.

The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education

This program is mandatory for teaching staff that are on-going or have been appointed to a minimum three-year contract. It is not obligatory but recommended for all other HE, FE and VE teaching staff. This program consists of four 12-credit point units and is a pathway into the Master of Education at Victoria University.

Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education - New Enrolees 2012

The GCTE is designed to enhance learning and teaching at VU, by supporting teachers to develop insights into their current teaching, and giving inspiration and confidence to explore new ways of teaching. The 12-credit point unit ‘Foundations of Learning and Teaching in Tertiary Education’ which will form the basis of the new GCTE has been approved, for delivery in semester 2, 2012. This unit will begin with face-to-face workshops at Footscray Park:

Mon 9 July 9.30 - 4.00
and
Tues 10 - Fri 13 July 9.30 am - 1.00 pm

It will continue throughout the semester with online activities and monthly face-to-face tutorial meetings.

For VU staff currently undertaking the GCTE two units will be offered in second semester: Managing Learning and Improving Practice.

Continuing Professional Development

Continuing professional development is recommended for all staff at Victoria University.

Enrolments will be taken in first semester 2012 for the GCTE program commencing June/July 2012. Please register your interest by contacting the Teacher Development Unit.
