Teacher development unit
The Teacher Development Unit (TDU) has a number of roles within Victoria University (VU). The TDU delivers award courses for professional development, as well as developing professional development activities for staff across VU. In addition, the TDU works with teachers in the areas of collaborative reflecting and peer mentoring.
The unit works closely with faculties, the Curriculum Innovation Unit (CIU), the Work-based Education Research Centre (WERC) and the Office for Research to ensure teaching activities are aligned with VU's key performance indicators (KPIs) and also to develop programs to expand the practice of work-based delivery across VU. The TDU ensures that the quality of teaching practice across VU is of the highest quality.
The work of the TDU encompasses the following areas:
- teaching qualifications, including diplomas, certificates and graduate certificates;
- induction programs for teachers and general staff induction;
- teacher capabilities and collaborative reflection;
- the guidelines on learning that inform teaching
- workshops and teacher resources;
- TAFE teacher support through the TAFE Development Centre.
