Citations for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning
A Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning recognises and rewards the diverse contributions
that individuals and teams make to the quality of student learning.
In 2008 the Carrick Institute will select up to 210 recipients of a Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning,
each receiving $10,000 paid to the recipient's University for allocation.
In order to be considered for this citation you need to:
- Be a member, or members, of the academic staff, general staff, sessional staff or an institutional associate of VU
- Have made a significant and sustained contribution to the quality of student learning in either a general or specific area
- Be recognised and endorsed by your peers, VU and/or the broader community for your work
Selection Criteria
While each individual or team's application will uniquely represent the area of outstanding contribution, applications should select
one or more of the criteria below to describe their achievements and provide the supporting evidence.
The number of criteria selected will not affect the assessment of the application.
- Approaches to teaching and to learning support that influence, motivate and inspire students to learn.
- Development of curricula, resources and services that reflect a command of the field.
- Approaches to assessment, feedback and learning support that foster independent learning.
- Respect and support for the development of students as individuals.
- Scholarly activities and service innovations that have influenced and enhanced learning and teaching.
A full description of the criteria is available from the
Guidelines (pp. 15-16) on the Carrick Institute website.
Nominations
The Nomination Form, completed by the individual/team and endorsed by the University is available included in the
Guidelines
pp.44-46.
The presentation requirements of the application can be found
here.
It requires a written statement (limited to four A4 pages in total) outlining:
- Proposed citation
- Summary of particular contribution and specific context for this
- Statements addressing chosen criterion/a
- Statement describing and providing evidence of contribution, sustained effort and recognition.
In addition two references are required (each of no more than one A4 page), and one of which must be from
