This award is made in recognition of the exemplary standard of professionalism and collaboration demonstrated by the VU team.
Urban Systems Training (UST) combines staff from both VU and Connex Group Australian to deliver the Certificate III in Transport and Distribution (Rail Operations) to 400 work-based learners.
The team's collaboration with relevant internal and external organisations helps to ensure their teaching practices are flexible, catering for the needs of learners who are unaccustomed to educational situations, are apprehensive about returning to study or possibly have limited literacy skills.
The team have embraced a work integrated learning strategy by ensuring that all learning and assessment activities promote learning and support the transfer of skills and knowledge to the workplace. The team members are committed to assisting students to build on their existing knowledge and skills and to provide quality experiences aimed at enhancing their educational journey.
The Urban Systems Training team are committed to supporting each other in their varied roles, placing significant importance on the value of professional development for all members. The team's professional development activities assist in broadening their understanding of the rail industry and the VET sector. The team continuously seek to improve their learning materials and teaching practices to include a broader range of techniques and media including the use of Information Communication Technologies.
