UTEP Meets VU

From April 21 to April 24 Victoria University hosted four delegates from the University of Texas El Paso.

Our visitors were Dr Maggy Smith, the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies and Dean of University College; Dr Dorothy Ward, the Associate Dean, University College; Dr Gary Edens, the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Mr Robert L Stakes, Associate Vice President, Information Resources and Planning at UTEP.

The VU College’s Office of the Dean coordinated a program of activities for the delegates that allowed them to engage with staff and students from across the University. During the week various University faculties and departments hosted workshops and open forums to share ideas and experiences with our UTEP colleagues.

Some highlights of the visit included a luncheon and discussion with representatives from Moondani Balluk, a visit to a local school as part of VU’s Access & Success project and a dinner hosted by The Portfolio of Learning for Work and Community Service at the Terrace Restaurant on the Footscray Nicholson Campus.

As a result of the focus of the visit From Conversation to Action a number of joint projects between the Universities were proposed. The basis of these projects was presented at a wrap-up session, hosted by Professor John McCallum and held at the City Flinders campus.
