VU College Portfolios
VU College comprises of three portfolios, which incorporate the areas listed below:
Portfolio: Entry and Further Education
- School of General Education Programs and Services
- School of Youth, VCE and Community Programs and Services
Through these schools we deliver access bridging and preparatory programs and services to people in the West who wish to engage in education in order to pursue further education or vocational training pathways, move into employment or engage in community life in the West. Much of what is on offer is second chance education for those who for whatever reason have been unable to complete a formal program elsewhere. Programs provide support and targeted bridging to specific cohorts of students including youth, women, students with special needs, newly arrived immigrants, established and emerging CALD communities, specific community groups and industry workers.
Portfolio: Language and Learning
- School of English Language and Preparatory Programs and Services
- School of Learning Support Services
The Portfolio brings together the VU College's many programs designed to prepare students directly for entry into VE or HE through and to support them academically while they are studying in these programs. Mature-aged students, international students and those from a non-English speaking background have particular needs; but all students need to develop new or more sophisticated academic skills. The Portfolio provides assistance to students in acquiring these skills, as well as advice to staff on developing them in their students.
Portfolio: Learning for Work and Community Service
This portfolio provides a range of career education programs to VU students. Through Student Career Development and the LiWC project, the portfolio liaises with industry and community to identify employment opportunities for students and graduates of the university and supports the university in its commitment to Learning in the Workplace and Community for VU students.
